In Memory of Beatriz Estéban-Messina

Beatriz Esteban-Messina

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Bea Estéban-Messina, a cherished member of our Studio family.

Bea fearlessly helmed our holiday productions since our return from the pandemic, filling the stage with joy, warmth, and casts of 40 or more—all united to spread holiday cheer. Before the shutdown, she also directed many of our beloved “magic trunk” shows, always bringing her signature creativity and compassion to the work.

Bea was especially passionate about creating opportunities for people who might not always be included on stage. Her commitment to inclusivity extended far beyond casting decisions; she was a founding member of our DEI committee, ensuring that diversity was not just an idea but a reality reflected in every production she touched.

Her dedication to community, generosity of spirit, and unwavering support for others made her a cornerstone of Studio. Whether directing, mentoring, or simply lending a helping hand, Bea gave of herself wholeheartedly.

Bea was truly a gift to us all, and her absence will leave long shadows. We are grateful for the countless ways she enriched our lives and our theatre.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Studio Players will be dedicating this year’s holiday show to Bea, a show she would have directed before she left us way too soon.
